Top 5 Reasons Why I Work For WAG!

So I am a single mom living in the LA area and let me tell ya...IT’S EXPENSIVE to live here on your own. It’s almost impossible if you are a single mom going to school, or working a minimum wage job. Apartments are easily on average $1,700.00 and up. So unfortunately many single moms including myself have to pick up a second job. My main job is substitute teacher and I make around $120.00 a day. I don’t want to give up this job because 1. I love teaching 2. I love making a connection with my students and 3. I want to be a teacher so I am preparing myself and making connections. But like I said I only make $120.00 a day and I don’t get a job everyday. So I have to work a second job. I’ve even worked 3 jobs at one time. But recently I started working for WAG.

WAG is a company that offers individuals the chance to work with dogs (and if you absolutely love our four-legged friends than this may be a great opportunity for you). As a “walker” (what they call employees) you provide services such as walking someone’s dog/s dog sitting, or dog watching on a daily basis. The best part is that you MAKE MONEY! So here are 5 reasons why I enjoy working for WAG.

1. I get paid to walk dogs

PRO: If you have an obsession with puppies or any animal for that matter and you love MONEY this job is great! I love dogs ( I have one of my own that you will get to meet once I get more blogs up..he’s just the most adorable pup in the world) and money! I make about 12$ + tip for 30 min walks and generally $18 + tip for 1 hour long walks. It’s great money for the time spent.

CON: The walks are on first come first basis. So you are fighting with other walkers in your area to claim walks. However, I still get walks often.

2. I get to make my own schedule

PRO: Since it is a first come first serve basis I get to decide whether the walk is a good option for MY schedule. For example since I sub teach I do not always pick up walks because I am working. But after work, and picking up my son I sometimes pick up a walk really when it is convenient for my family and I.

CON: There are not always walks available when you need them or want them. I suggest just doing it when you know you can make it to the walk in a timely manner and it works for you. Unfortunately some areas are not HOT spots which are most suburb areas. However beach cities and populated areas are great for this.

3. I love animals and I enjoy what I Do

PRO: I absolutely adore animals and how loving they are. WAG offers the perfect opportunity to work with animals. I have my own emotional support animal his name is Rockiee Here is a picture!

Unfortunately, while I am currently going through custody with my sons father ( a whole other blog) my boyfriend lives away and he keeps Rockiee. So I am having my withdrawals from not having Rockiee with me on a normal every day basis as we were both use too. I get my puppy fix through WAG. :) Thanks WAG!

CON: WARNING! DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT A DOG LOVER! Other than that there are no cons to loving Animals.

4. Get in shape while I work

PRO: Okay friends! I am an athlete I played water polo for 10+ years but sometimes it is hard to be motivated to go to the gym. So I figured if I got a job that required me to get up and get moving “I could kill two birds with one stone” and Voila! I am hitting 3 miles a day in a short time of 2 weeks. So you can get in shape while you work!

CON: If you don’t have the motivation to walk a mile or two maybe this is not the right job for you. It’s not for everyone.

5. Listen to music and relax

PRO: Music is a great way to sit back relax and enjoy life. While I walk i put my headphones in and jam out to my favorite music hits. I listen to Country, Rock, Reggae,pop, alternative, you name the genre its most likely in my library. I enjoy relaxing and not having to worry about anything but walking/running the pup all other problems are put on hold for the 30 minutes- 1 hour.

CON:There is no con to listening to music and relaxing.
